The Power of a Compelling Picture

The Power of a Compelling Picture

What you see in your mind will determine what you become. Vision is not birthed from words only, good and powerful as they are. It’s the image they cast in your mind that sticks to propel you into your healing, into the miracles you desire. If therefore what you see on the outside doesn’t seem as you desire, go back and review the blueprint within you. It is your blueprint within that drives your reality without.

God is a God of pictures. To birth a vision within you, He paints a compelling picture within you. He knows that if you lack a picture within then your reality without will go adrift.

Allow me to show you an example in Genesis 15:1-6. Here God appeared to Abram in a vision and a discussion ensued. “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceeding great reward.” Now the man responded, I am childless and my servant Eliezer will inherit everything I have, because You have given me no child. But God told him no. It is your own child, from your own body that will be your heir. If that was all that the Lord did, for most of us, we would think that is sufficient but not God. God brought Him out of his tent into the open air and asked the man to look into heaven and count the stars if he could number them, and Abram said he couldn’t. That is the point. The image has registered. A compelling mental picture has been painted in Abram’s mind. Then God said to him, “So shall your descendants be”.

Without a compelling mental picture within, there can be no vision without. The man saw failure, childlessness, hopelessness in his world. But God had a different agenda for his life. Yet, unless what the man saw was in consonance with the Lord’s, things will go drift. God recognizes the power of a compelling mental picture. And so he brought the man outside and showed him something the man could identify with to register the divine vision in his heart. Once registered, no one could ever again take it from him. Of course, you know he eventually had Isaac and became the father of us all. Where did it all begin from? Yes, the compelling and propelling picture that the Lord painted in his heart. Whatever manifests in your world is a revelator of the reality that had been birthed within you. If you don’t like what you see without, change what you see within.

Hollywood and media and all marketing men recognize this and they are daily bombarding you with pictures, to play on your imaginations for profit. You don’t just want to buy that car. They have made you to see yourself in that car so much you want no other car and for this reason you begin hating your car for no good reason until you have purchased the new one they have painted in your mind.

If that is where they stop, it would have been alright. But they have numbed you and changed your paradigm into theirs, such that you don’t frown at divorce anymore. After all, if you can change a car, why don’t you change a mate, even if God frowns at it. Have you watched some daytime television lately and seen how openly the unbiblical lifestyle is projected as normal and the sanctity of marital and Godly home is denigrated. Yes, they are painting a picture in your mind first to make you tolerant of Sodom and eventually maybe even yield to it. What you continually expose yourself to will inevitably register a compelling picture in your mind and the picture will eventually change your reality. Pictures, movies, storybooks and magazines are not harmless. They are the strongest life changers. Be therefore, very careful what you expose yourself to.

Friends, we all, believe it or not, become what we see inside. Those images shape the reality of our world. What you see is extremely potent. When, for instance I say DOG, you don’t see three letters of D, O and G.  No. What you see is a dog – Rottweiler for some of you, for others it’s a Poodle and yet for others it is the German Shepherd. Words paint pictures. Guard therefore your mind from wrong words because words can kill.

There are all kinds of abuses, especially in marriage – verbal, emotional, physical and all sorts. And I want you to hear me clearly. You must not ever tolerate any form of abuse in your family and marriage. But while physical abuse can lead to a broken arm or a cut that can heal after a few weeks, emotional abuse may leave you with indelible scars. When your spouse begins to call you names, register demeaning words to paint a destructive mental image into your heart, get help quickly. Bones can heal. But a destructive mental image can leave you a perpetual wreck. Get help quickly. Did I hear you say it’s mere words? One you must never forget is that’s where it all begins from. Anyone that disrespects, disregards, insults you, etc. will eventually lay his or her hands on you, because to him or her, you’re worth nothing. And while that’s how that person views you, it is wrong for you to allow yourself to see yourself as nothing. Get help and save your future.

Back to our subject of the power of a compelling picture. Words without pictures are a stillborn. Only pictures birth vision and create a new reality. When God tells you that New Birth, you become a brand-new species (2Cor 5:17), He is saying you become in your spirit exactly like Him. Hence 1Jn 3:2 says “Beloved, now you are children of God’ and it has not yet become revealed what we shall be, but we know that He is revealed, we shall be like him, for we shall see Him as He is.” Look at that text more closely, it says we are children of God now. That doesn’t register any natural image. It went on to say it hasn’t been revealed yet what we would be but that when God is revealed, we will be like Him, meaning unless He is revealed we wouldn’t be like Him. But then it saves the best for the last when it says we shall be like Him because we shall see Him as He is.

To become like God, we must see Him like He is. It is what we see inside that we give birth to on the outside. When you see Him as righteous, you birth righteousness in your world and when all you see is bleakness and darkness then that will become your reality.

Jesus said in Jn 5:19, “Most assuredly I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself but what He sees the father do; for what He does, the Son also does in like manner.” Hummn, Jesus had to see what His father was doing before He Himself could do anything! If He had to, and His purpose was to show us the Father and how we are to live, what makes you think you should or can live without seeing what the Father is doing?

The secret of Jesus therefore was that He withdrew all night to pray, so He could see (Lk 5:16, 6:12; Mat 14:23; Mk 1:35-36; 6:45; Jn 6:15). Let me give you a charge. Withdraw like Jesus did. Go and pray in tongues for 12 or 24 hours. Let the Lord Himself paint a powerful compelling picture of His preferred reality for your world and no devil in hell will be able to change it. Yes, you can.

God bless you!
